Giving Back
Tim and his wife Bonnie have been supporting Herren Project, a national addiction nonprofit started by former professional basketball player, Chris Herren, for the past 9 years. They met Chris Herren at a time when he was relatively new on his journey to recovery. Soon after, Chris started Herren Project to give back to others the gift of recovery from drugs and alcohol he had been given. Chris now celebrates over thirteen years in long-term recovery and has impacted millions with his story. As a national recovery advocate, he has helped to break the stigma on the disease of addiction and inspired thousands on their own journeys.
Herren Project offers free resources and support for individuals and families in the treatment and recovery of addiction like treatment placement assistance, recovery scholarships, online support groups, and phone consultations. They also provide free programs for the prevention of addiction like Herren Project Clubs in schools and Wellness Week with Herren empowering schools and communities in living healthy, fulfilling lives substance-free with a “Be You” attitude.
In Tim’s own journey, success has not always been a straight line and he recognizes the importance of helping those who experience set backs.
Bonnie has been working at Herren Project since inception and now serves as the Executive Director, responsible for all operational aspects of the nonprofit.
Tim and Bonnie believe in the work of Herren Project and the impact it is having on those impacted by the disease of addiction. In 2020, Tim and Bonnie donated more than $50,000 to Herren Project, and have pledged to repeat that amount in the 2021 fiscal year.
